Congo's Vita Club snatched a 1-1 draw away to Sudan's Al-Hilal in an African Champions League clash that saw around 12 fans injured when a sandstorm led to a 30-minute stoppage in Khartoum on Friday.

The fans were hurt when an advertising billboard fell on them after the match was stopped in the second half.

Television footage showed ambulances carrying off the injured fans, with many supporters invading the pitch. Qatari-owned beIN SPORT television network, which broadcasts the competition in Africa and the Middle East, said all the injuries were minor.

The match was stopped after 67 minutes after a sandstorm had engulfed the stadium when Hilal were leading 1-0, thanks to a first-half goal from Sergio Junior.

However, Vita Club secured a share of spoils through a penalty from Lema Mabidi two minutes from time after the match was resumed.

Hilal and Vita Club have four points from three matches in Group A, one ahead of Egyptian giants Zamalek and TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo who face off on Sunday.
