The Zambian champions were held by the six-time African champions to a scoreless draw at home but coach Simukonda believes that there is still room for winning this tie.
"Despite the draw, we have a chance even in Egypt. We will go there to fight and win and qualify. We will be ready," ZESCO United coach was quoted as saying on the CAF official site immediately after the match.
"Our game plan was executed well. Our plan was to play to our best level and get at least a goal. We created the chances we needed but we just could not get the goal. I think we did all we could," he added.
ZESCO produced a goof display against Ahly and forced them to drop back into their own half but lacked efficiency in front of goal but he hopes his luck will change in two weeks.
“We have one more week to prepare for the second leg and we will look forward to it with confidence because we know that we can still qualify from Cairo,” Simukonda added.
