Hayatou confirms all federations in Confederation of African Football have pledged to vote for Blatter in Zurich on 29 May

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) offers its full support for Sepp Blatter in the election campaign for the FIFA presidency, President Issa Hayatou confirmed.

"Africa has decided to totally support Blatter for a new term at the helm of FIFA," Hayatou said during the CAF General Assembly in Cairo on Tuesday.

"Dear Sepp, Africa is comfortable having you. Africa stays with you!

"All 54 member federations of CAF guarantee their votes for Blatter when the time comes in Zurich in on 29 May," Cameroon-born Hayatou, who is 68 and in his seventh term in power of African football, added.

FIFA vice-president Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, Dutch FA president Michael van Praag and former Portugal international Luis Figo are the three candidates trying to stop Blatter being re-elected for a fifth four-year term in May.

The three rivals for the FIFA presidency are expected to be in Cairo for the CAF congress also.
