Algeria’s striker Rafik Djebbour may miss the anticipated 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco on 4 June due to an injury, Algerian newspaper El Khabar revealed on Tuesday.

Olympiacos’ hitman sustained a muscular injury during Monday’s training session and is set to undergo further scans to determine the injury’s extent and whether he will be fit for Saturday’s game.

Algeria’s coach Abdelhak Benchikha is confused now, as he was counting on Djebbour to lead the team frontline.

The Algerian national radio station claims that the 27-year-old player will be available for the match.

Algeria faces stiff competition to snatch the Group D summit, as they share the same points (four) with the other rivals Central African Republic, Tanzania and Morocco.

The Desert Foxes, Algeria’s team, are also seeking a revenge win from their hosts, Atlas Lions, who defeated them 1-0 in Annaba last March in the first leg.
