Spanish side Getafe announced on Monday the signing of Algerian midfielder Mehdi Lacen from Racing Santander without disclosing the financial details of the deal.

The 27-year-old was part of the Algerian national team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa where his side failed to score a goal, earning only one point.

Lacen is Getafe's fourth summer signing, after coach Luis Garcia from Levante, goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya from Valencia and striker Diego Castro from Sporting Gijon.

The Algerian international midfielder joined the club on the outskirts of Madrid, which finished last season in 16th place in La Liga.
