Spanish giants Barcelona are the latest club to join the race to sign Leicester City's Algerian striker Riyad Mahrez, English reports said on Sunday.

According to English newspaper the Sun, Barcelona coach Luis Enrique showed interest in the 25-year-old and that the La Liga champions would prepare an offer for Leicester to hire the player in the summer.

The Algerian winger made headlines after a string of strong displays with the Foxes to help them to a stunning Premier League lead.

Mahrez has scored 15 goals and made 11 assists in 30 appearances this season so far.

It has been reported that the Algerian international was targeted by Premier League giants Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal who are all being linked to acquiring the player.   

Mahrez, who joined Leicester in January 2014, has three years remaining on his contract with the club.
