Nigeria kicked off their World Cup qualifying Group B in convincing fashion, securing a 2-1 away victory over Zambia on Sunday.

Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi opened the scoring on 33 minutes and Manchester City's Kelechi Iheanacho doubled the lead two minutes before the break.

Zambia's Collins Mbesuma pulled one back in the 71st minute but the hosts could not find the equaliser as Nigeria held firm.

Algeria host Cameroon later in the day in the other match of arguably the toughest group in the African World Cup qualifiers.
