Wydad Casablanca coach Michel De Castel has blamed Saturday’s CAF (Confederation of African Football) Champions League defeat against Esperance on his defender Mourad Lemsen, who was red carded.
"The team played all the second half with 10 players after Lemsen’s naive mistake. We tried to make a comeback, but it was difficult, especially as our rival was very organised," De Castel was quoted as saying by Almountakhab.
Wydad defender Lemsen was sent off moments before half time while Wydad were trailing 1-0.
"We played a good match, but we were stunned by Esperance’s early goal." De Castel added.
Tunisia’s Esperance won the CAF Champions League title after beating Wydad 1-0, Saturday at Rades Stadium (Tunisia).
