Defending champions Sundowns claimed a narrow 1-0 win at home over Moroccan side Wydad de Casablanca in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals Sunday.

A second half strike from Sundowns Ivorian forward Yannick Zakri earned the hosts the win.

Wydad will host Sundowns in the second leg of the competition's quarterfinals Sunday.

The South African side struggled during the first-half, facing trouble piercing the organised Moroccan defence.

The visitors were dangerous in counter-attacks, but failed also to convert on goals.

The second leg will be tough for both sides who are looking to book a place in the continental competition semis.
