Newcastle's Ivorian midfielder Cheick Tiote said on Wednesday he is looking to regain his place in the Magpies’ starting line-up after missing the last seven games due to his participation with Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations.
The 25-year-old said he will do his best to help Newcastle in the Premier League.
"It's important when you come back from your national team to do more of what you do every time. It's important for the fans and the manager to see that we have ambition for the club to do well and to play well for the team," Tiote told the club’s official website.
"I have to do my job for the team and for the fans, and I think we have a possibility to win on Saturday."
Tiote said he wants to get over the disappointment of Ivory Coast's failure to win the Nations Cup after losing to surprise package Zambia on penalties in the final following a goalless draw.
"All the people there, they love the national team and they love the country, so we are really disappointed because we didn't win the competition," he added.
"I gave my medal to my friend because I was so disappointed. I didn't want to keep that, so I gave it to my friend. We did well, but we didn't win it. Maybe next year we will win the competition."
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew expressed his delight at Tiote’s return, which he desrcibed as a major lift to the squad.
"Everybody is fit. Cheick has come back on the training ground and lifted everything. Now I have my strongest squad to pick from since (Newcastle's win over) Man Utd," Pardew was quoted as saying by Sky sports.
Newcastle lie sixth in the 20-team league table with 42 points.
