Etoile du Sahel thrash Esperance in Tunisian League

Etoile du Sahel handed League rivals Esperance a historic 5-1 defeat to cut their lead at the top

Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel thrashed their counterpart Esperance 5-1 at home on Day 14 of the Tunisian League on Sunday.

Danilo Bueno opened the scoring for Etoile du Sahel in the 12th minute, and at 33 minutes Francileudo Dos Santos doubled the lead.

Esperance international midfielder Khaled Ayari pulled one back in the 55th minute, but the hosts reacted severely with goals from Lassaad Jaziri, in the 61st minute, Aymen Abdel-Nour, in the 80th minute and Malian striker Diarra Yacouba in the 86th minute to complete the rout.

Etoile du Sahel have cut the gap with leaders Esperance to just one point as they now reach second position with 31 points.
