Tunisan Club Africain forward Amir Akrout has been shot during clashes between the Tunisian army forces and criminal gangs following the ouster of President Zine Al-Abidine Ben Ali.
“Amir has been shot yesterday in El-Nasr district and was taken to hospital where he had a successful surgery,” Tunisian newspaper Assabah reported on Monday.
The 28-year old striker was in his apartment’s balcony at the same time army forces were in pursuit of suspects.
“The injury is only 10 cm away from his heart. He is recovering and will leave the intensive care unit within three days,” added the paper.
The former German club SC Freiburg hitman joined Club Africain last season from Saudi side Al Wahda.
