Goalkeeper Landu was outstanding as Angola forced a 0-0 away draw against Mozambique at the weekend in a 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier.
The 23-year-old from champions Recreativo Libolo made a series of superb saves at Estadio Machava in Maputo to give his country the edge ahead of the August 31 return match.
With a place at the January 11-February 1 finals in South Africa up for grabs, Mozambique took control from the kick-off due to slick passing and off-ball movement.
But Landu showed why he is rated among the best goalkeepers in Africa by repeatedly thwarting an attack that substitutes Manuelito, Reginaldo and Belito bolstered.
Although 2011 runners-up Angola rarely threatened, they succeeded where Mozambique failed by getting the ball in the net only for the Zimbabwe referee to rule the effort offside.
"This result means we face a difficult but not impossible task in the return match," Mozambique caretaker coach Joao Chissano told reporters.
The second leg between the Portuguese-speaking countries is scheduled for Estadio Ombaka in coastal city Benguela, one of four 2010 Africa Cup of Nations venues.
A qualifier between Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo in northern city Garoua was postponed to Monday after the late arrival of the Sudanese referees.
Burkina Faso, Burundi, Congo Brazzaville, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Uganda and Zimbabwe have qualified for the tournament.
South Africa are automatic participants as hosts and the winners of the Mozambique-Angola and Cameroon-DR Congo ties will complete the 16-nation line-up.
