In an interview with The Associated Press, Sergey Cheban says he attended the Champions League match in Moscow on Wednesday but didn't hear the racist chanting the Manchester City midfielder said he was subjected to.

Cheban, speaking in Paris on Friday after taking part in a meeting of European leagues, said through an interpreter "there was not an incident" and that "everyone hears what he wants to hear."

Uefa said it has opened disciplinary proceedings against the Russian team for the "racist behavior of their fans."

CSKA Moscow said it considers the racism allegations "unfounded."
