Hamburger SV striker Paolo Guerrero faces possible criminal charges over his violent tackle from behind on Stuttgart’s goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.

Guerrero already is serving an eight-match ban for the foul in a Bundesliga match earlier this month that Hamburg lost 4-0. He was sent off.

Hamburg chief prosecutor Wilhelm Moellers says several criminal complaints had been filed against the Peru international and authorities are looking to see if there are charges to answer.

Moellers says the investigation could take some time.

Guerrero was fined 100,000 British Pounds ($130,570) for throwing a bottle at a fan in April 2010.
