Oman is scheduled to play its next World Cup qualifier at home to Jordan on Oct. 16

FIFA has threatened Oman with suspension from playing 2014 World Cup qualifying matches for breaching rules on taking soccer disputes to the courts.

Three clubs in Oman sought a ruling to invalidate allegedly flawed elections for the Oman Football Association ruling board.

FIFA has reminded the OFA it faces ''immediate and indefinite suspension'' if the court award is enforced.

Soccer's world governing body says its observers were satisfied that elections last August were conducted correctly. Earlier, eight clubs failed in an attempt to postpone the poll.

Oman is scheduled to play its next World Cup qualifier at home to Jordan on Oct. 16.

Under French coach Paul Le Guen, Oman has reached the final Asian group stage, playing Japan, Iraq, Australia and Jordan.
