Diego Souza asks for Brazil government's support to leave KSA

Brazilian player Diego Souza is seeking his government's help to leave Saudi Arabia after falling out with his club Al Ittihad.

Diego Souza has contacted Brazil's sports ministry requesting assistance because he has been unable to get an exit visa. The 27-year-old player wants to end his contract with the club, but cannot leave the country without the visa.

Brazil's foreign ministry said Friday it has contacted the Brazilian embassy in Saudi Arabia to get more information about the case and assist Diego Souza, who is in the country with his wife and two small children.

The playmaker transferred from Vasco da Gama in July.

He said on Twitter that he is "sad'' with the situation and hopes a solution "is found soon.''
