Omneya Abdel-Kawy and Kanzy El-Dafrawy
Egyptian top seed and World number eight Omney Abdel-Kawy suffered an early shock exit in Rotterdam as she lost to compatriot Kanzy El-Dafrawy 3-0 in the World Open round one on Tuesday.
The Egyptian teenage qualifier sealed her first ever win against Abdel-Kawy in only 35 minutes 12/10, 11/9 and 12/10.
"I can't believe it. I've never even taken a game off her before. But I was playing well, even if she isn't at her best at the moment, but when I was 10/6 down in the third I told myself I mustn't let an opportunity like this slip," El-Dafrawy said after the game.
The 17-year old player will take on Dipika Pallikal from India in round two that will be played on Wednesday and Thursday.
Raneem El-Weleily defeated Sarah Kippax from England 3-0, 11/9, 11/9 and 11/5 and Nour El-Sherbini who celebrated her 16th birthday on Tuesday in style after beating Donna Urquhart from Australia 3-2 (10/12, 11/8, 13/11, 9/11 and 11/2).
In the men contest, the Egyptians dominated the show as Ramy Ashour, Karim Darwish, Amr Shabana, Mohamed El-Shorbagy, Marwan El-Shorbagy and Hisham Ashour easily got through this round two and will start tomorrow the round three.
