Karim Darwish through to World Open quarter finals
Egyptian Karim Darwish qualified for the Squash World Open quarter finals after securing an easy win over Spaniard Borja Golan on Wednesday.
The world number six settled the tie in his favor in 31 minutes, claiming a comfortable 3-0 win.
He beat Golan with relatively narrows victories in the first two games, 11-9 and 11-7 respectively, before claiming an overwhelming 11-1 win in the third and final game.
Darwish will face Australia’s David Palmer, who overcame Frenchman Thierry Lincou, in the semis.
El Shorbagy was not that lucky, however, after losing 3-1 to world champion Nick Matthew in an exciting game.
The Egyptian won the first game 11-8 before Matthew rallied back to beat El Shorbagy 11-5 and 11-9 in two successive games.
El Shorbagy then equalized with an 11-5 victory but Matthew had the upper hand in the decider, winning 11-1.
