Egypt's star Nour El Sherbini continued her bid towards a second straight World Championship title after reaching the semis with an easy victory over Britain's Sarah-Jane Perry on Tuesday.

World number one El Sherbini secured a 3-0 win (11-6, 11-3, 12-10) in 41 minutes to book a last-four berth for the third time in her career.

She set up an all-Egyptian semi-final against Nouran Gohar, who beat Malaysia's Nicol David 3-0 (6-11, 5-11, 9-11) later in the day. The last-four game will take place on Thursday.

Fellow Egyptian Raneem El Welily will bid to become the third Egyptian to reach the semi-final when she plays England's Laura Massaro on Wednesday.

El Sherbini became the first Egyptian female to win the prestigious tournament when she beat Massaro in the 2016 final in Kuala Lumpur.

In the men's El-Gouna Squash Open, Marwan ElShorbagy reached the semi-final for the first time after defeating his brother Mohamed ElShorbagy (3-0 5-11, 2-11, 4-11).

"It's been a tough season for Mohamed, I'm sure he'll be back. It's a good time for me, looking forward to the next round," Marwan said after the game, according to the tournament's official Twitter feed.
