Karim Darwish and Ranem El Weleily have been both defeated 3-0 by James Willstrop and Nicol David (Mas) in the finals of Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Squash Open 2011.
Second seeded, Darwish, who reached the final after exiting Malaysian Azlan Iskandar, was stunned by the 53 minutes battle against the world third, Nicol who finished him 11/5, 11/9, 11/4.
“I was struggling a bit to go pass him today, I didn’t have a clear path to the ball a few times. But all credit to him, he played a very accurate squash,” Darwish said after his defeat.
“I was really worried. I lost concentration, and to be honest, I’m just happy that I finished the match not injured,” he added.
In the women’s final Nicol David (Mas) didn’t need more than 30 minutes to defeat Ranem El Weleily 11/5, 11/4, 11/9.
“Next time – not next final – just next time I play her, I’ll need to find a way not to get that eager, maybe take that as a practice match, and having the feeling I have nothing to lose.” Raneem said.
