Ahly has decided to not participate in the IHF Super Globe set to be played in Qatar next October, the Cairo giants announced on Wednesday.

Egyptian side Zamalek was initially set to represent Africa in the World tournament after defeating Ahly in the African Supercup last April, but they decided to withdraw from the tournament due to political troubles between Egypt and Qatar.

Following Zamalek’s withdrawal, Ahly were set to replace Zamalek as the African representative, but the Red Devils also snubbed the tournament.

"Ahly's management decided to snub the IHF Super Globe set to be played in Qatar in compliance with state policy," read a statement on the club's official website on Wednesday.

Ahly took the same decision in 2017 when they refused to represent the continent in the world tournament.
