Ahly won their third straight African Clubs Champions Championship on Wednesday after defeating compatriots Smouha 3-0 in the final in Cairo.

The hosts strolled to a win in three sets (25-17, 25-23, 25-19) amid little resistance from the Alexandria-based Smouha, who made their first appearance in the competition's final.

Ahly, who extended their record to 14 titles, celebrated wildly before their enthusiastic fans, who also cheered for the football team ahead of Saturday's African Champions League clash at home to South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Red Devils will have to stage a miraculous comeback to reach the semi-final, having been thrashed 5-0 by Sundowns in the first leg in Pretoria last Saturday.
