Egyptian squash champion Karim Darwish won the PSA Kolkata international squash tournament at Calcutta Racket Club on Sunday after he defeated his compatriot Omar Mosaad 3-0.

World number three, Darwish clinched the title and won $35,000 prize after a long, 91 minute final resulting in 12-10, 12-10 and 11-4.

"I am recovering from a hamstring injury and so I wanted to come here and win so that I can take a few points. It would help my ranking," Darwish said after the game.

The first two games were filled with enthusiasim from both sides but Darwish made the best use of his experience making hardly any errors. He finished the third set more easily after he broke Mosaad's morale and concentration.

In the semis, Mosaad had beaten countryman Karim Abdel Gawad 11-6 11-4 and 11-4, while Darwish crushed the Indian hopes beating Saurav Ghosal 9-11 11-5 9-11 4-11 in a matter of 54 minutes.

Darwish lost in five sets to Mosaad the last time they met in April 2010 at the Heliopolis Open.
