For the 6th time, the Breast Cancer Foundation in Egypt (BCFE) launched the annual highly anticipated pink party, to celebrate the fight against the disease and raise more awareness about it.

The Latin American inspired zumba dance was the main theme of the party, where more than a thousand women- many of whom are breast cancer survivors- attended

The novelty about the party this year is the introduction of the Zumba dance on oriental and Indian music.

"Egyptians are fond of Bollywood music, so the excitement and zeal was electric," said Zumba instructor Hager Abu El Enein.

Other prominent Zumba instructors taking part at the party included Emylin Lavander, Sally Salama, Jessie Larsson, Passant Bassem, and others

The party included also a fashion contest among participants who exhibited outfits of different cultures, among which where Nubian, Egyptian rural, and Indian outfits.

Jubilant participants took part in a prize draw before being awarded goodies and brochures that highlight the right kind of Nutrition, exercise and lifestyle that should be adopted by ladies to reduce the likelihood go breast cancer

In Egypt,  according to latest statistics of the National Cancer Institute,  breast cancer accounts to 37.5 percent of all cancer cases,

Ghada Mostafa, Media manager of BCFE said that since its launch more than a decade ago, The Breast Cancer Foundation puts the cause of raising awareness regarding Breast cancer on the forefront of its agenda

Dr. Mohamed Shaalan, Professor of surgical oncology, Director of the Early Detection Unit at the National Cancer Institute - Cairo University, and BCFE chairman stressed that these kind of joyful events draw a considerable attention to the cause and help set off various cultural and social obstacles and myths still prevailing in the society.

He added that it also celebrates the bravery of survivors and those going through the struggle, and sheds light on various lifestyle methods that should be adopted to help curb the numbers of new breast cancer cases.
