The best Egyptian professional chefs will face off in a tight competition during the Hurghada Salon Culinaire 2012
in just two days time.
It’s nearly impossible to find a better thing to do on a Monday, 26 March, than attend the top culinary competition at the Movenpick Resort (formerly the Continental Resort) by the Red Sea.
After the competition and judging, the salon will open to the public starting 1:00pm.
The award-winning head of the Hurghada chapter of the Egyptian Chefs’ Association and current head chef at the Marriott Hurghada, Essam Sayed Mohamed, has 20 years of experience in the food sector, is a member of the Emirates Culinary Guild and was part of the team that represented Egypt in the IKA Culinary Olympics in 2004 in Germany, and this year is gearing up for the same.
With 110 chefs competing, this year promises even keener in competition, since in effect it is a trial run for the Culinary Olympics in Germany in October.
Programme of the one-day Hurghada Salon Culinaire:
Set-up of cold platter exhibits: 7:00-8:30am
Judging: 9:00am-12:00 noon
Open to public: 1:00-4:00pm
Award ceremony: 6:00pm
Exhibits shut down: 7:00pm
Chefs will participate in the following categories: starters, tapas, main courses, three-course meal, desserts, petit fours, and last but not least, a showpiece.
They will be judged on composition, professional and correct preparation, arrangement and serving, presentation and innovation. Within each category the degree of difficulty, work involved, creativity and presentation will also be judged.
