Forbes has published its list compiling the top earning models of the fashion industry for the last 12 months. Total income is the sum of what these fashion icons gain from fashion appearances, spokesperson deals, advertisements and various media appearances. Critics who claim that the days of supermodels have passed may find themselves eating their words after taking a look at this list, as the dominance and fortune of these fashion divas still separates them from mere-mortals.
The sum of the wealth earned this year by Forbes list is an estimated LE994 million ($142 million) with five of those featured as newcomers.
Again and for the eighth time in a row, the Brazilian beauty, Gisele Bundchen, reigns supreme. She had reportedly earned a whopping sum of LE329 million ($47 million), before tax deduction. Gisele is married to American footballer Tom Brady who earned close to LE259 million ($37 million) in 2013, making them one of the richest celebrity couples worldwide.

Gisele outpaced all who came next on the list, the first of whom was Dutch beauty Doutzen Kroes who is a mother of two. Doutzen, who first appeared on the list two years ago was born in 1985. She earned a net income of LE56 million ($8 million) in 2013. Adriana Lima, who is also a mother of two and one of the famous angels of the Victoria’s Secret fashion show came in third on the list, also with a net revenue of LE56 million ($8 million).

The next four names are among the most famous in the industry, each with around LE49 million ($7 million). Australian Miranda Kerr, the baby-face mother of one who split from actor Orlando Bloom is still expanding her campaign portfolios, upping her net income when compared with last year. Kerr recently made headlines for allegedly starting a fight caught on camera with singer Justin Bieber.

Kate Moss also came in at LE49 million ($7 million). The most iconic model Britain has ever known took a few steps backward this year. For years Kate was the top earning model, a glory that withstood even her most troublesome years with ex-boyfriend and musician Peter Doherty. Moss’ current status is still a comeback considering the hit she took after pictures of her using drugs with Doherty surfaced and caused many labels to drop their contract with the boho-chic beauty.
Now married and a mother of one, Moss continues to be iconic as she enters her forties with no signs of slowing down. The fourth model earning LE49 million ($7 million) is Liu Wen. Wen is the first Chinese model to step onto the Victoria’s Secret catwalk. The 26 year old is a major potential force in the expanding fashion industry in her country. Model Kate Upton also earned LE49 million ($7 million), which makes her the highest earning newcomer on the list.

Alessandra Ambrosio still maintains her presence on the list with LE35 million ($5 million) last year via several lucrative deals with Brazilian companies. Hillary Rhoda earned almost the same sum, coming in ninth.

In last place came Russian model Natalia Vodianova, who took several steps backward compared with her position in previous years. A designer and a regular face on perfume campaigns along with her modeling career, Vodianova's earnings were LE28 million ($4 million).
