On Friday 15 January, Cairo Runners, the leading running community in Egypt, will celebrate their 3rd anniversary with a jog in Cairo's district Zamalek.
"The theme of the upcoming event will be chocolate. Sponsored by Snickers, the day will include many mentions of chocolate, including the route flags, signs, certificates, etc," Mohamed Seif, Cairo Runners Media Manager told Ahram Online.
"At the end of the day, the participants will be treated to bars of the chocolate," he added.
Cairo Runners is the leading running community in Egypt and one of the earliest groups to attempt to lure Egyptians to adopt a healthier, and more energetic lifestyle.
The group's first events kicked off in 2012 as a series of runs through the areas in central Cairo and surrounding suburbs.
At that time, the runners comprised around 70 people. Over the past three years, the Cairo Runners became very popular, raising its membership from an initial 70 to over 3,000 who take part in its regular Friday runs at different locations around the capital.
The group has also reached almost 400,000 members on its Facebook page, and over 16,000 followers on its Twitter account.
The upcoming Friday 15 January run will kick off at 7am, from the El Sawy Culturewheel.
