Within his first visit to Cairo since he took office in 2014, Australian Governor-General Peter Cosgrove and his wife embarked on a tour around the Giza Plateau.

Ashraf Mohi, director-general of the Plateau, told Ahram Online that the Australian ambassador to Cairo and his wife accompanied them and took photographs at the panorama area of the Plateau.

He told Ahram Online that Cosgrove was astonished with Egypt's unique heritage and asked about the construction of the pyramids and the workers who built them.
