Minister of Antiquities Khaled El-Enany and secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri embarked on a tour to inspect the newly discovered cachette of intact, sealed coffins at Al-Asasif necropolis on Luxor’s West Bank on Tuesday.
The full details of the discovery will be announced at a press conference on Saturday.
Waziri said that the discovery is considered the biggest of the last few years, as the cachette includes more than 20 painted wooden coffins. They were found grouped on two levels, one on top of the other.
The coffins are in good condition.
