After setting a new record for the most visited cultural exhibition in France with more than 1.4 million visitors, the ‘Tutankhamun: The Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh’ exhibition is set to open in Saatchi’s gallery in London on 1 November.

In anticipation of the exhibition, many of London’s bridges, main squares, streets, bus and train stations, buildings, and shops have been adorned with posters showing the face of the golden king and some of the artefacts that will be on show at the exhibition.

This is the third leg of the worldwide exhibition tour, which will last until 2022. The exhibition’s first stop was in Los Angeles and the second was in Paris.

Tutankhamun’s treasured collection previously visited London twice, in 1972, where it attracted more than 1.7 million visitors, and in 2007.

According to exhibition coordinator Tarek El-Awadi, some 300,000 tickets have been sold so far for the London exhibition. The VIP inauguration of the exhibition will take place on 1 November and the public opening will take place the following day.

The exhibition is displaying 150 objects from the Tutankhamun collection, including the black and gilded statue of the aka, a necklace decorated with precious stones, the golden coffin and a collection of alabaster pots and wooden and gilded statuettes.
