The Archaeologists' Syndicate unanimously rejects a petition published on Friday for the Ministry of State for Antiquities (MSA) to fall back under the culture ministry's umbrella.

Intellectuals and artists occupying the culture ministry for weeks demanding the ouster of the Mubarak-appointed Culture Minister Abdel Aziz published a list of assorted requests addressed to the country's caretaker Egyptian President Adly Mansour to all press.

The organising committee of the archaeologsists' syndicate's, however disagrees and urges all other concerned authorities not to abort the archaeologists' dream of efficiently protecting and preserving Egypt's heritage - which they feel can be better done if they have their own ministry, the syndicate Coordinator Salah El-Hadi reveals to Ahram Online. 

Before the January 25 Revolution in 2011, the MSA was part of the culture ministry and gave 10 percent of it's profits to the culture ministry.  

El-Hadi also urged Mansour to review the syndicate's issues, to publicise their needs and turn the archaeologists' dreams into reality.
