Cairo International Airport's Antiquities Unit has caught on Sunday a Russian citizen trying to smuggle three Ottoman pistols out of Egypt. The pistols are being held until investigations are completed.

Ahmed El-Rawi, head of the Antiquities Unit, said that the pistols have copper bases decorated with foliage and geometrical patterns, and that each pistol has a long ornamented barrel.

Until now, El-Rawi continued, the origin of the pistols is unknown, pending full investigations.
