Egypt's antiquities ministry has launched a competition on its Facebook page to select a “piece of the month” from thirteen different ancient Egyptian artefacts from the collections of the Egyptian Museum.
Last month the ministry began a new practice of sharing a set of artefacts from the museum on its page and asking followers to select one as the “piece of the month.”
Elham Salah, head of the Museum Section at the ministry, said that the selected pieces of this month include children toys such as puzzles, a statue of Ra-Hotep and his wife from the fourth dynasty (2613 to 2494 BC), a piece of leather decorated with a hunting scene, as well as a collection of pots for cosmetics.
