Egypt received on Wednesday two more Dassault Aviation-built Rafale fighter jets from France, the fourth batch from a deal signed in 2015, the Egyptian army spokesman announced.

The deal involves the sale of 24 Rafale jets, of which Egypt has received 11.

The first three jets were delivered in July 2015, the second batch arrived in January 2016, while the third was delivered in April.

“The new Rafale aircraft are a powerful addition to the capabilities of our air forces, as they possess high-level technical characteristics and combat systems, enabling them to perform long-range tasks,” army spokesman Tamer Mahmoud said in an online statement.

The Tahya Misr FREMM multipurpose frigate was delivered to Egypt in June 2015 as part of the deal.
