Egypt's Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II expressed on Saturday his full support for Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018 and "the efforts by Egyptian army and police forces in the war against terrorism."

The pope, who made the comments during a visit to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, stressed the importance of supporting efforts to "eliminate the terrorism that has cost Egypt many martyrs, time and obstructed development."

"Terrorism is evil and shall not live, as the darkness precedes dawn, and the sun will rise on Egypt soon, and Egyptians will enjoy safety and security," the pope said, adding that Egyptians support state, police and army efforts against terrorism.

On Friday morning, the Egyptian Armed Forces launched Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018 to fight terrorism in north and central Sinai and other parts of the country.
