Egypt’s Minister of Defence Mohamed Zaki met on Sunday in Cairo with Portuguese counterpart João Gomez Cravinho, where they discussed issues related to the fields of military cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the two countries, as well as regional and international efforts to eliminate terrorism.

Zaki praised the deep ties between Egypt and Portugal, and expressed hopes that the upcoming period will see more joint cooperation in various fields.

The Portuguese defence minister said his country is determined to strengthen relations with Egypt, especially in the military field, praising Egypt’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and addressing problems affecting its region.

The meeting was attended by a number of leaders of the Armed Forces and the Portuguese ambassador in Cairo.

Earlier on Sunday, El-Sisi met with the Portuguese defence minister to discuss military cooperation.
