Egyptians living across the world continued casting their ballots on Saturday, the second day of a three-day referendum on a package of constitutional amendments.
Egyptian voters in 124 countries are voting at 140 polling points in Egyptian embassies and consulates abroad, a foreign ministry spokesman said on Thursday.
Polling stations are open from 9am to 9pm local time on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
New Zealand was the first country to open its doors to voters, on what was Thursday night by Cairo local time.
According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), 9.5 million Egyptians currently live abroad, while an estimated 98 million live in Egypt.
There was a high voter turnout on Saturday due to the weekend, MENA reported.
Voters in Egypt will cast their ballots from Saturday to Monday, with results expected by next Saturday, according to the head of the country’s electoral commission.
