Egypt’s Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki met on Wednesday with Jordan’s Prime Minister (PM) and Minister of Defence Omar Ahmed Al-Razzaz, who is currently on a two-day visit to Cairo to attend the Egyptian-Jordanian High Joint Committee meetings chaired by the prime ministers of the two countries.

The two sides discussed a number of issues of common interest in light of the long-standing historical relations binding the two brotherly countries, as well as means of enhancing military cooperation, exchanging expertise and carrying out joint exercises between the armed forces of Egypt and Jordan.

The Egyptian Minister of Defense and General Commander of the Armed Forces expressed his hope that the next phase will see more cooperation and coordination between Egypt and Jordan in various defence and security areas to bolster security and stability in the region.

The Jordanian PM and Minister of Defense hailed Egypt's efforts in comprehensive development in various fields and its regaining of its leading role in the region, praising the role of the Egyptian Armed Forces in combating terrorism.

The meeting was attended by Mohamed Farid, the chief-of-staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, as well as a number army commanders.
