Egypt releases foreign defendants upon their embassies' request: General Prosecution

According to the statement of the Egyptian General Prosecution, the foreign defendants were released upon the request of their embassies that promised to take them home immediately.

The General Prosecution interrogated the foreign defendants who were charged with participating with the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group in inciting chaos, financing some members of the group, providing them with the skills necessary to commit those crimes, and flying an unlicensed drone during the unlawful act, the statement read, stressing that investigations were ongoing.

Earlier, Jordanian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Sofian Al-Qudah said the Egyptian authorities released Jordanian citizens Abdul-Rahman Hussein Al-Rawajbeh and Thaer Matar, who were arrested in Cairo 10 days ago.

Al-Qudah tweeted that Al-Rawajbeh and Matar would be home on Thursday.
