Egypt's Army Chief of Staff witnesses one of the stages of 'Radaa 2020' drills

Army Chief of Staff Lt. General Mohamed Farid witnessed on Wednesday one of the phases of multi-day drills, dubbed as 'Radaa 2020' (deterrence), a statement by the official Army Spokesperson said.

According to the statement, the Radaa drills, which coincides with the 47th anniversary of the 6th of October War Victory, are being carried out by the combat units of the central military region in cooperation with units from other main branches of the Egyptian Armed Forces.

The military spokesperson said that the manoeuvres come within the framework of the annual plan for combat training of formations and units of the armed forces.

The various phases of the Daraa 2020 drills include the implementation of the procedures for preparing and organising for a battle, movement and conquest, as well as pushing the main force to attack the front line of the hostile defences so as to complete the attack to accomplish the planned tasks, by using engagement simulations systems "MILES ", the statement noted.

During the witnessed stage of the drills, the statement said, the high combat skills of the participating troops were reflected and that proved their ability to carry out planned and emergency tasks with high efficiency.

From his side, Farid conveyed the appreciation and greeting of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki  to all personnel taking part in the drills, and offered them a greeting on the 47th anniversary of the October Victory, which continues to bear witness to the ingenuity of Egyptian soldiers.
