Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Anwar Gargash said on Tuesday that Egypt’s presence at the Gulf summit in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ula carried an important message.

According to Sky News Arabia, Gargash added in statements on Monday that Egypt's commitment to the statement of the summit confirms the existence of a real desire to end the crisis with Qatar.

He also added that he is optimistic about the Al-Ula statement on Arab solidarity, describing the summit as "a bright new page."

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry signed the Al-Ula agreement for Arab reconciliation with Qatar, which was signed by Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states during the 41st GCC summit held on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia.

“This comes within the framework of Egypt’s constant keenness to [achieve] solidarity among the Arab quartet states and in their orientation towards consolidating ranks and removing any disagreements among brotherly Arab nations,” the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement.

Leaders of the six-member GCC signed two documents, the Al-Ula declaration, named after the Saudi city where the summit was held, and a final communique.

The contents of the declaration and the communique are expected to be released to the press later.
