Security official announces diffusion of three mortar rounds targeting Suez-Ismailia train

Activity on the Suez-Ismailia railway track has been suspended following the diffusion of three mortar rounds by security forces, which were tied to the track Saturday, according to Ahram Arabic's news website.

An official stated that the explosives were supposedly targetting a 6am train, scheduled to depart from Suez to Ismailia.

The official added that train activity would be suspended until a team of bomb experts finishes combing the tracks to ensure the area is safe.

On Thursday, the Interior Minister survived an apparent assassination attempt, when his motorcade was targeted with a detonating device near his home in Cairo.

Over the past few weeks, security forces have announced the detection of a number of explosives in different locations in Cairo and other cities.
