Governor Mohamed Agwa of Kafr El-Sheikh is the first government official to sign a petition on Sunday urging General Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, Egypt's Minister of Defense, to run for presidential elections.

The petition is part of the ‘Complete your Favour’ popular campaign, which was launched last month, planning to seize the opportunity to collect signatures during the October war anniversary celebrations.

Governor Agwa and a group of officials from his governorate signed the petition, clarifying that they did so as citizens and not state officials.

Colonel Ahmed Mohamed Ali, official spokesman of the armed forces, stated a couple of weeks ago that General Abdel Fatah El-Sisi did not have any intention to run in Egypt's presidential elections.
