Ministry of Culture will celebrate the 80th birthday of the renowned writer and novelist Bahaa Taher on 22 January

The Ministry of Culture will celebrate the 80th birthday of renowned Egyptian writer and novelist Bahaa Taher at a conference at the Supreme Council of Culture on Thursday 22 January at 6pm.

Gaber Asfour, the Minister of Culture, and the Secretary General of the SCC will be leading the conference, which will comprise of many speakers such as journalist and writer Abdullah El-Sennawy, poet Ahmed Abdel-Moaty Hegazy, novelist Youssef Al-Qaeed, and Professor of Arabic Literature Hussein Hammouda.

Bahaa Taher, (born on 13 January 1935) is one of Egypt's most notable novelists and writers, he was awarded the International Prize for Arabic fiction (Arabic Booker) in its first edition in 2008 and the Award of Merit in Literature. Taher's most famous novels are: Sunset Oasis (2007), Love in Exile (1995), Aunt Safiyya and the Monastery.
