The fourth edition of Oskar Egypt short film festival for short fiction and documentaries will open on 10 February at the Bayan Moden School stage in Moqattam and will run for three days.
Adel Ammar, the head of the festival, told MENA that the upcoming edition is dedicated to the late Egyptian actor Nour El-Sherif who died in 2015.
It will include a line up of over 35 local, regional and international films, including selections from Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Great Britain, France, Morocco and Algeria.
Ammar added that the festival’s opening will screen the Egyptian film El-Nos El-Malyan (The Full Half) by Hassan Reda, as well as a fashion show for veiled women by designer Randa El-Shafei, and another show for wedding and evening dresses by designer Samah El-Qassem.
A number of figures in cinema and media, yet to be announced, will be honoured at the opening as well.
The second day of the festival will feature a performance of the play Bahebak Aah (Yes, I Love You) directed by Omar Mostafa and a forum on Iraqi cinema to be led by Iraqi director Eyad Gabar.
There will also be a forum on Saudi Arabian cinema led by Saudi scriptwriter Wael Soliman and director Faisal El-Shennawy.
