An exhibition for artist Thanaa Ezz El-Din opened on Tuesday at El-Bab Selim Gallery located on the grounds of the Cairo Opera House.

The artist exhibits a selection of female portraits as each woman takes on the role of narrator for women’s stories.

Ezz El-Din’s pieces are often busy with a mixture of patterns, sometimes serving as the background, part of the women's colorful garments, or in other instances adorning their faces.

According to a press release, the portraits serve to extol the role of women in society, and their feelings.

The faces are innocent, serene, and diverse, with simplified features that bring to mind folklore art.

Khaled Sorour, head of the fine arts sector at the Ministry of Culture, attended the exhibition's opening.
