Newly-named South Korean ambassador to Egypt Yoon Yeocheol held a Ramadan Iftar banquet at Cairo's Ramses Hilton Hotel on Tuesday 29 May, featuring presentations on Korean cultural and political topics.
During the dinner, which was organized by the Korean Cultural Centre in Cairo and attended by a number of Egyptian journalists, the ambassador reviewed the most recent political developments on the Korean Peninsula.
Ambassador Yoon highlighted the success of the recent summit talks between North and South Korea on 27 April, and pointed to hopes for the upcoming summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore.
During last month's talks, the two sides agreed to work together to improve and develop inter-Korean relations and to make efforts to ease military tensions on the peninsula, as well as to work towards full peninsular denuclearisation.
The ambassador's presentation was followed by the screening of a video by the new director of the Korean Cultural Centre in Cairo, Yang Sang Keun, who introduced the Egyptian journalists to popular Korean foods and explained similarities he noticed with Egyptian food during his short stay in Cairo.
