The Cairo Opera House will host renowned poet Amin Haddan alongside oud master and singer Hazem Shahhen at the small hall for a singing and poetry night presented by Ahmed Mokhtar on Wednesday 10 October.
The duo will perform a few of their collaborations including Magnoon Omniat, El-Waqt Saraqna, and Bahr El-Amal alongside many others. Haddad will also read some of his own poetry.
The Alexandria-born Shaheen, 40, moved to Cairo and founded the late band Eskenderella in 2005, playing at underground venues before gaining wider recognition.
Eskendrella “shifted between revivals of the nation's classic tunes and ventures into new compositions,” reads their bio section on their official Facebook page.
Some of Eskenderella’s influences include famous Egyptian musicians Sayyed Darwish and Sheikh Imam, as well as colloquial poets Salah Jaheen, Fouad Haddad, and Ahmed Fouad Negm.

The son of 'Father of all poets' Fouad Haddad, Amin nurtured a passion for poetry at an early age, and started composing at the age of 23.
Amin has published many books of poetry, including Rihet El-Habayeb (The Scent Of The Beloved, 1990), Halawet El-Rouh (The Sweetness Of The Spirit, 1998), Fi El-Mot Haneish" (In Death We Live, 2003) Badal Fa’ed (The Re-Make Of An Identity, 2008), Min El-Watan Ela El-Gannah (From Homeland to Paradise, 2012), and Gezirat El-Ahyaa (The Island Of The Living, 2014).
