The first edition of Cairo Photo Week, a photography festival spearheaded by Photopia, will immerse the city in everything photography related as it opens on 22 November.

Under the theme of 'Tell Your Visual Story,' the extensive programme of Cairo Photo Week will run for eight days and will take place in the heart of Downtown Cairo at two of its historic buildings; Kodak Passageway & Tamara.

It will feature three exhibitions, talks by 80 speakers and four discussion panels, 15 workshops, as well as photo challenges, portfolio reviews, photo walks, and a market for used gear and photography books.

Participants will also have access to printing services and a co-working space for photographers throughout the week.

The activities will cover digital and analogue photography in a wide range of genres that include commercial, documentary and fine art, as well as fashion and food styling, photo editing and retouching, and much more.

The exhibitions include Sard, She Tells, Photobook Egypt on the Walls, and More Stories, which brings a selection of photos from an open call.

The speakers, instructors and panellists are well-established in the Egyptian photography community, aside from a roster of prestigious international speakers from Holland, Lebanon, Italy, France, Germany, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the US and Denmark.

Four discussion panels will take place titled Image Making in Fashion, Photography in the Digital Era, Storytelling in Commercial Photography, and The Future of Documentary Photography in the Middle East.

There will be two photo challenges running throughout the event; a photography advertising challenge with CocaCola Batool Al-Daawi (Blow Creative Studios) & Omar Abou Zeid (OZ productions), and one with El-Beit Magazine, run by Sawsan Mourad.

Tickets for the Photo Week are available till 20 November or when sold out. They offer three types; the Cropped-Frame Pass for one day; the Full-frame Pass for the whole week's events; and the Full-frame PLUS Pass, which is limited to 40 participants and gives access to studios at the Kodak building and a roof-top studio location at the Shorbagy building.
